I had tried learning to code twice before through other platforms and kept giving up by the third week. The Cortexia course felt different — each lesson had a reason, and I knew what I was supposed to be able to do at the end of it. The community was also more engaged than I expected. I would recommend it to anyone who is nervous about starting.

The NLP Track was harder than I expected, which I think is a good thing. I was not just clicking through videos — I had to actually produce something at each stage. The mentor sessions helped a lot when I got stuck on the tokenisation parts. My one note would be that some of the documentation links are to older library versions, but the mentor flagged the differences clearly.

I came in knowing Python and having done some ML tutorials on my own. What I did not have was any idea how to actually take a model out of a notebook and into something that runs reliably. The capstone pushed me to figure that out properly. The peer review element was the part I was not expecting to find valuable — but it genuinely was. My code is cleaner for it.

The thing I valued most was that Cortexia did not oversell what the course would do. I had already seen too many platforms promising you would be an expert in six weeks. First Steps in AI · 8 weeks
Challenge
Had tried two other online coding courses and quit both times within a month. No clear sense of what he was working toward or how the lessons connected.
Approach
Enrolled in First Steps in AI for the self-paced structure. Worked through it over eight weeks, mainly on weekends, using the community forum when he got stuck on loops.
Outcome
Completed the course and the end-of-course project. Now working through Python fundamentals further and considering the NLP Track in the second half of 2025.

Challenge
A data analyst with Python knowledge who wanted to move into NLP work but found self-directed learning through documentation and YouTube was not giving her enough practical context.
Approach
Joined the NLP Track on the structured schedule. Had two mentor sessions where she worked through problems with text preprocessing and named entity recognition pipelines.
Outcome
Completed the applied project with a working text classifier on a Thai language dataset. Has applied the approach to a small internal tool at her organisation.

Challenge
A self-taught ML practitioner with notebook experience but no understanding of how to take a model into a production setting reliably or handle the engineering side of deployment.
Approach
Enrolled in the Deployment Programme over 16 weeks. Went through three peer review rounds during the capstone and had one-on-one sessions focused on containerisation and API design.
Outcome
Delivered a deployed text-classification service as the capstone. Reports that code review habits from the programme have carried into his personal and collaborative projects.
